Amarillo Animal Control called into question

“Amarillo, TX – Area residents packed the Amarillo Animal Control Board meeting Monday evening to express their concerns about what they’ve read on social media about questionable euthanization practices.

Both the director, Mike McGee and assistant director, Shannon Barlow are reportedly on paid administrative leave. Scott McDonald has been appointed interim director at this time.

Residents say they concerned with how these animals may be suffering. During the meeting it was mentioned by an animal control officer that they do not have scales inside the facility, which called into question for at least one resident how the dogs or cats could be humanely euthanized.”
