Kathleen Hanna: always a hot topic in my book

“Kathleen’s support for aspiring young female writers and musicians cannot be overstated. She was the riot grrrl movement’s big sister, muse, and fairy godmother. Bikini Kill wasn’t exactly raking in a ton of money, but she still bought zines from riot grrrls all over the world.”

This is a wonderful interview from almost twenty years ago with Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna. Riot Grrrrl-ism is alive and well, still. There’s just too much good stuff in this to discuss. What a refreshing voice. Favorite question: “what is your favorite musical instrument?”

Kathleen: my mouth.
