The comfort food that is Mac-n-cheese will be featured in a competition between local business to make the best version of the dish. The public can benefit from the delicious smack down, called The Big Cheese, as can the local Amarillo non-profit group The Hope & Healing Place.
Amarillo’s Hope & Healing Place benefits people suffering from loss. (Its mission: “A safe place to promote the healing journey.”) They have wonderful community resources intended to help others. On Friday, January 30th, there will be a Mac-N-Cheese cookoff in the new great room of the Polk Street United Methodist Church at 1401 S. Polk in Amarillo. People can come and go from 5-8pm. Advance tickets are $10 and they’ll be $15 at the door.
Some of the businesses competing will be Macaroni Joe’s, Panhandler’s, Shi Lee’s Soul Food, and the Golden Light Cafe.
